Orphan Sunday is a global initiative to raise awareness about the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children worldwide and encourage people to support and care for them.
This annual event calls the Christian Church to minister the love of Christ to orphaned children in their community on One Day with One Voice for One Purpose – to invite orphans into the family of God as adopted sons and daughters through faith in Jesus Christ.
The legacy of Orphan Sunday came as a gift from the church in Africa through a Zambian pastor’s passionate call to care for orphans in a community ravaged by AIDS and poverty. Members of the church faced deep needs themselves. But as the service ended, one after another stepped forward with money, food, and other goods—some even took off their own shoes and placed them in the offering for orphans.
Together, we believe that everyone can do something to help a vulnerable child and family.
